Creatures as Cover
When a targeted creature is benefiting from half- or three-quarters cover because it is behind another creature, then any attack that would normally hit the targeted creature but misses because of that cover hits the creature providing the cover instead.
Example:
- If a targeted creature normally has an AC of 12 but currently enjoys an AC of 14 because it is in half cover behind another creature, and
- An attacker rolls a 12 or a 13 on a ranged attack,
- Then that attack strikes the creature providing the cover instead of the intended target.
